The Sphinx has had many lives and the monument is currently under restoration. During its ;ife, it has also had many faces. Archaeologists have discovered that many of the Pharaohs had the existing face on the statue replaced with own. A ancient form of shape shifting.
Most scholars date the Great Sphinx to the 4th dynasty and affix ownership to Khafre. However, some believe that it was built by Khafre's older brother Radjedef (Djedefre) to commemorate their father, Khufu, whose pyramid at Giza is known as the Great Pyramid.
