Esna Temple
The Esna Temple was buried under the mud and silt that built up during Egypts annual flood. Many, many cubic meters of dirt and mud had to be removed around the structure and from its interior. The temple now sits in a hole in the ground. To see and experience this temple, a visitor must descend a set of stairs to the floor of the compound 40 to 60 feet below.
